File Fanatic 1.1 - written by Roby Sherman - Copyright 1991
REQUIREMENTS :
System 7.0 or higher
---------------------
Description
---------------------
File Fanatic allows you to drag any number of files to the File Fanatic program icon, and globally modify the files' filetype and/or creator attributes, quickly and easily.
This program was originally designed to take GIF files that I downloaded and convert all of the filetypes quickly, without having to modify them manually, one-by-one, with ResEdit. I have also found it EXTREMELY useful in converting generic text-files so that I can double-click on them and run Word rather than teach-text.
---------------------
Using File Fanatic
---------------------
While in the Finder, select the group of files you wish to modify, then drag them over to the File Fanatic icon, until it highlights, then let go of the mouse.
NOTE : File Fanatic will not modify the contents of a folder. You MUST drag actual files.
Once File Fanatic has activated, a dialog will display, asking you to fill in either the new filetype and/or the new creator you wish to change the selected files to.
NOTE : The "****" in either the Filetype or creator text-edit box provides a wildcard to File Fanatic telling the program to not modify that attribute.
---------------------
Changes From Previous Version
---------------------
(1.0) -> (1.1)
* Fixed the SIZE resource
* Made the PICT resources Purgeable
* File Fanatic will now fill in the filetype and creator fields of modification dialog, provided that you are dragging over only 1 file.
